CORRECTION: David Messenger stories

A reader alerted us to the fact that the charges for David Messenger were reduced from murder to first-degree manslaughter after he was found to be afflicted with a mental disease or defect. We have therefore corrected this in the recent stories we have posted about Messenger's possible release from Connecticut Valley Hospital. However, we have left it as "murder" when directly quoting officials speaking on the charges, because that is what they said or wrote in their letters to other officials.

CORRECTION: A typo in the driver's age of this story has been corrected from 543 to 54 years old.

CORRECTIONS: Mistakes fixed in martial arts story

In the article "Martial Arts club opens in Killingworth" published Tuesday, John Himmelman was incorrectly quoted as saying "we love teaching Mixed Martial Arts." What he actually said was "We love teaching this martial art." Ed Ricciuti is an author but not an illustrator, and Tuesday and Thursday classes are held from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., not 6 to 7 p.m. On Wednesdays, classes are held from 6 to 7 p.m.

CORRECTION: Larry McHugh misquoted

CORRECTION: In the article "First ‘green’ office complex in Connecticut welcomes tenant to Middletown," Larry McHugh was incorrectly quoted as referring to state Sen. Lenard Suzio. McHugh was referring to Lennie Leibenhaut, the owner of Centerpoint, in the quote.
