CORRECTIONS: Total number of awards for JRC corrected

CORRECTION: JRC Connecticut newspapers won 30 awards and JRC in total won 87 awards in a the Local Media Association newspaper contest for 2011, according to a revised list of awards from the Association.

(Due to computer upgrades from the organization, some entries had been entered in the wrong category and were therefore disqualified)

New date for Easter Apple Hunt

The annual Easter Apple Hunt at Lyman Orchards originally scheduled for this Saturday has been postponed until Saturday, April 7, organizers announced today.

CORRECTION: Fire chief's first name inaccurate

In our haste to report the breaking news of the East Haddam fire Monday and Tuesday, we incorrectly called the East Haddam fire chief John Angersola, instead of his correct name, Don Angersola.

Wrong phone number in ad

In Tuesday's Middletown Press print edition, two advertisement contain the wrong phone number for Dino's Oil. The company recently had to change its number, and the new phone number is (860) 759-0909.

CORRECTION: Students from the Independent Day School selected to perform in a music festival are sixth-, seventh- and eighth-graders, not just sixth- and seventh-graders.

Chain letter about President Obama published in error

Readers of the Middletown Press were quick to point out this morning that a letter to the editor we published was actually a piece of satire that was picked up and has circulated as a chain letter for a number of years.
Rather than delete the letter from our website, we have included an editor's note at the top of the page acknowledging and explaining our error.

Cromwell's budget request included money to hire a compliance officer; Essex budget showed an increase

25 Years Ago: Cromwell’s general budget request for the next year included money to hire a full-time compliance officer who would be responsible for zoning and wetlands enforcement as well as watchdogging the nonbuilding aspects of developments.
25 Years Ago: Although the proposed budget for Essex showed an increase for the following fiscal year, First Selectman John A. Johns predicted that it would be absorbed by the rise in the1986 grand list.

CORRECTION: Udder, not "utter"

"Utter" has been corrected to "udder" in a story about a centenarian recalling milking cows.
